I had two plants sent from Hawaii to me, and I believe they said they were extremebly rare, found on only one mountain at or near the Himilayas. Well, I lost one to lethargy, but the other I successfully grew; the second year it jumped up to over 10 feet, and the flower was huge--and died in the third year with little 2 inch bananas. i could see no seeds, amd would love to hear if anyone knows what it was. The front of my house just isn't the same without it. Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I agree, what a plant. It's marvelouse. But the thing with banana plant's is they bear fruit and die. You have to take cutting's or seed's. I had them and lost them, I put it down to the weather. Yes, I can see why you would want another. I bet you just miss it like crazy. A missing friend.lol. You can take solace in the fact you have photograph's. bob................ |

The only way to know for sure is to examine the fruit. It looks to me like that is an ornamental banana plant. The tiny fruit probably do have seeds that you can use to propogate the plant. Bananas usually put up pups from the ground, so you should have a new plant for the following year. You didn't observe this in your plant?? |

I waited a long time, but no pups appeared. I dissected a number of the mini-bananas, but apart from some 1 mm black specks, I could see no seeds. I guess I'll have to read how to grow banana seeds, and see if anything grows. Thanks for your help. |

I didn't notice that in your first post, you had already mentioned no seeds. What did the fruit taste like? Try this site. Post the same pictures under the "banana identification" section. There are lots of "experts" that could help you identify it. www.bananas.org Be careful though, you may get hooked on bananas! Good luck! |
