There are some peonies growing between our condo property and the vacant property next door, white ones. Currently they have no petals but they do have what I think is seed pods. I would like to collect them for a few neighbors who have been admiring them but can't get to the pods. Is it ok to retrieve the pods when they've form or is there a time to collect? |

From what I remember, you have to wait until the pod is kind or leathery. Try the american peony society web sight. They have a pretty lenghty article on it. hope this helps. Sass |

OK, fun as long as I don't fall into the ravine haha. |

My son used to live in Bremerton when he was in the Navy. Beautiful area and he lived on a very steep hill. I'm wondering if it would be possible to just thin some of the roots with eyes once they die back. The majority would still be there and they wouldn't take as long to get flowers as growing from seed. Sometimes it takes a few years before the plants from rootstock will flower. I bet that's a beautiful sight when they're all in bloom. That's a great site. I hadn't been there before. I found this one while I was snooping and I think I'll try the seed idea, too. http://www.willowgarden.net/summer/peoniesfromseed .htm |
