does any one here use their dandelions instead of killing them??

If so when do you harvest, do you use greens and roots? And do you preserve them somehow?

You can also cook them in a pot of mixed greens, you know ( collards, mustards, turnips, and kale ) seasoned with some smoke meat and a pan of cornbread and butter, Yummmmmm now that's good eats!

Hi, I'm new to GG and your post caught my attention.

I use the leaves in salads, the dried roots for tea, and one time the flower heads to make Dandelion Wine(grandmother's recipe).

Here's a link that gives a little info about the uses of it: http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/dandelion-00023 6.htm

I've taken to grabbing a young, thin leaf or two while I'm weeding. And call me crazy, but when the flower goes to seed out in the yard I shake them in that area to reseed. Don't tell my husband.
