Hi, just have a question. I have Canna bulbs to plant and will be doing it shortly. I have noticed that after the flowers have died off there are pods with black seeds in them. (Actually about the size of rabbit poo)I have kept them also. I dig my bulbs up every year with the first frost and drie them and put them in my basement till spring. Can I also plant the seeds? Will they also produce a flower or is it only the bulb? Thanks for your input, I appreciate it in advance. |

I don't know about growing them from the seed pods. They multiply so quickly for me, I've never kept the seeds, but then again, I don't know how many of my new plants come up from seed. All I can say is, experiment! |

I agree with cat about the tubers making so many new babies that you won't know what to do with them all. I've just let my seeds hand out on the plant for visual effect - I doubt in our neck of the woods you'd be able to get them to take without a greenhouse - they are tropical. Be sure to dig them up in the fall. |
