So I have spent the last two years transforming a corner of my lawn into an organic garden. So far I have left the grass in between the beds and I still mow and weed eat it. I have to fight to keep it from growing up through the beds. I want to eliminate the lawn but I also don't want a muddy mess. I also don't want the back breaking task of pulling sod. One more issue, I cant afford to go out and spend money on beauty bark or gravel. ANY IDEAS????? |

Two thought come to my mind. Lay down weed barrier or some heavy plastic. If you can find a place in your city that offers free mulch use that. Lay thick layers of newspaper down first or on top of the weed barrier. |

Some may find this tacky but i dont care. We used the old carpet from several rooms we have re-done. the carpet was cut in length to fit between the beds and after a few weeks of rain and weather it has stopped the grass and weeds from growing underneath. |
