I am thinking about using small river rock as a mulch in my flower beds. Does anyone know of any problems this might create? Thanks. |

I've seen lots of people do that. The only drawbacks/concerns I have is that you would have to use liquid fertilizer, Weeds WILL come up between the rocks eventually, then it is a hand chore to get them out and if applied too thick, I would think would hold too much heat in the summer. But again, lots of people use rocks, and it does look real nice.

Welcome! I've wanted to do that myself, but it would be a nightmare for me to keep clean. We are surrounded by woods and the leaves would really make it unsightly. Also, whatever plants you have in there would really have to be able to stand up to the heat in the summer. |
