It looks like it kind of took on the color of the leaf in a way. Is it a still young dragonfly? Just wondering because of the wings.

Hi all..
Very interested in this conversation about dragonflies. I feel that they are my familiar... no, I'm not a witch, but if I were, I would have dozens around and on me all the time. Damselflies too.. they are the smaller bright blue ones.

In my memories of about ten years ago, the dragonflies all seemed about the same. In the past few years a bewildering variety have appeared. Still mostly black, with different white patterns on them.Does anyone know why the changes?
Could the changes be some sort of evolution to better help them catch their prey?

The damselflies don't seem to have changed, still smaller, daintier and electric blue. I have never ever seen a yellow one before. Very pretty!

I live in black fly country. Swarms of millions of tiny biting bugs smaller than the head of a pin. They take chunk out of your hide bigger than they are. Vicious horrors. When the dragonflies appear the black flies get cleaned out within a week. Bless dragonflies.

Drop-in company just arrived.. gotta go.. Back 'atcha manana

I really don't know much about dragonflies at all. I just happened to have my camera when this little guy decided to take a nap on that leaf. He is a nice color and his wings were very transparent. I would love to catch another photo of one soon.

Oh i love praying mantis and dragonflies and ladybugs!

I can remember dragonflies in several colors when I was a kid(over 20 years ago). Sheesh that was hard to type..LOL

Anyways i dont think they have "evolved"..lol They are still the same old dragonflies in all their brilliance..differant area have differant types is all.

What I wish we had here is firelfies....or glow bugs

Are glowbugs the same as what we refer them as - lightening bugs?
That leads me to my next inquiry..lol. We have seen a bunch of them in the last few weeks. Compared to last year, the numbers have at least tripled. As a kid my parents always said lets go outside and catch em and put em in a jar. Anyone know their place in the environment? ALso, what is the scientific name for them? Thank you bunches.
