Just your standard 'ole shade tree

Hey everyone.

This tree is out front of my office. It's pretty basic and gives off great shade in the summer.
Does anyone know what it is?

It's a type of Maple.

Could it be Acer platanoides? It's got those same 'spiky' leaves.

Yeah, looks like a Red Maple to me.

Not the platanoides (Norway Maple)? This is a pic of a leaf.

It's not red maple, that's for sure.

Maybe a Sugar or Black Maple?

I second the sugar maple. It is an exact match for the sample photo in tree identify book.

Bark doesn't seem right for a sugar maple.

1st is Norway; 2nd is Sugar.
