Wish I had to tame mine with a whip, too. I'm still in the coaxing stage.

My fav are Lemon balm, sage because I like the flowers, apple mint I use it in cooking pancakes, flavore water or in a tea and borage because it surprises me how a leaf can taste like a cucumber lol it taste great in macaroni salad.

I grow my herbs in with my vegies and flowers but be carefull where you plant as some plants are more invasive then others.

Never had any trouble growing my oregano either ! Probably could make a small fortune selling it ! I would start off with growing thyme, sage, oregano, and chives----those always come back each year for sure !

containers+zone 5=chives dont come back/havent yet

My favorites are:

Basil
Rosemary - lots of Rosemary! lol I love the smell
Mint
Cilantro - I could eat that all day

I basically cook basil and cilantro in everything. I love rosemary when I'm making chicken or steaks. I like the flavor of mint in cold ice tea. Yum!
