too pretty to be weeds.....

but they sure act like 'em! They will take over the yard if I let them....

"Violet Wood Sorrel" according to my sources. About the size of a penny across.

Never seen them before but they are pretty. Do they bloom only in the spring?

yes, as soon as it gets hot they'll die off. But they spread like wildfire in the early spring, the clover-like leaves shade and choke the St Augustine, keeping it from covering like it should and creating open areas that other weeds can then take over.

Weed killers only make them angry....

I always look forward to seeing my violet wood sorrels in my flower beds ! I never had a problem with them spreading too much. They are so cute and dainty, and I enjoy them like the little bluets that pop up each spring ! mitzilou
