Just thought it would be interesting to see what kind of tomato plants everyone else are growing this year. Last 2 years I planted 444 and they are a nice tomato. Doesn't have so much acid in it and they are nice in size. As a matter of fact, last year we counted one tomato plant had 38 tomatoes on it. The stems were spliting so bad I had to go ahead and pull the tomatoes off. I had two or three stems to do this on different plants. Today I planted 8-444, 8-Bush Goliath, 3-602's. I think I might have a pic. of the tomatoes we pulled off and maybe one of my garden. Can't wait to see what you are planting...happy gardening...Reba/La. Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This year I decided to plant a few plants each of several different varieties. What I can remember off the top of my head: Black Krim (a very dark heirloom variety), beefsteak, and rutgers for slicing; San Marzano plum tomatoes, and Sungold Cherry tomatoes, a yellow cherry variety. I think I may have a couple more different varieties, but I got to check. Here is a picture of some Sungold cherries from last year....they were the sweetest little things!!!! Attachments: ![]() |

The tomatoes I'm planting are both heirlooms and hybrids. Brandy boy (hybrid) Large red cherry (op) Marianna's Peace(op) Forth of July (hybrid) Big Beef (hybrid) Brandywine (op) Amish Rose (op) (op) are open pollinated heirlooms. |

My favorites are Romas. That's all I have so far. I might get a cherry tom of some sort just to munch in the garden. |

Have put out a Whopper tomato and 2 Cherokee Purples. I think there will be lots of volunteers from the Cherry and Romas from last year. I love a home grown tomato and your tomato patch looks wonderful. |

I can't grow tomatoes. The raccoons destroy them along with anything else with mulch or fresh dirt....and also the birdfeeders. I HATE COONS!! |

Reba your tomato plants in those pixs are amazing. We planted a Black Krim and some Big boys. I know we will add more in the next few weeks. |

Don't know if this'll actually work for you or not, but I understand that coons can't stand the prickles on squash and pumkin vines (their hands are extremely sensitive). Can you grow squash vines around the section of garden where the tomatoes are? |
