I love my dogs w/ all my heart, but they have in the past got in my flower gardens. So how do I keep my dogs (as well as other animals) out of my gardens, w/out blocking light w/ fences? The fences I've seen are pretty short, but still too tall that they block the view of my flowers. I'd like my yard to look beautiful, so yes I am wanting people to see them. I feel like I'm asking a lot. Do I need to be more realistic, is this possible to have all this?  I've heard that pepper was a possibility, any truth to that? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks so much, Dest |

Though there are plenty of animal deterrent sprays out there, don't count on any of them. Nothing like a good fence. I agree, they block direct views. I had my DH build picket fences that might have a bit wider slat than the store-bought variety, but a picket adds a bit of a quaint look, if you ask me, and it beats your flowers getting trounced! I don't know if you have a Sam's or Costco's close by - but if you do - black pepper is pretty good to keep dogs out.... (in large quantities) but doesn't work well for cats, squirrels, deer, rabbits or armadillos. I now use crushed red pepper flakes. I even mix it in with the bird seed to keep the squirrels away and so far so good. |
