Hello, this is my first time here and I feel somewhat intimidated bc I am a past "black thumb" gardener!!! Who just loves her beautiful dogwood in the front yard that is looking very sad these days and is requesting some help from all you "green thumbs" out there! I bought this house 4 years ago, with a beautiful flowering dogwood in the middle of my front yard. The first two springs it did wonderfully and the tree was filled with the white flowers, the next spring, (last spring), I noticed the blooms were fewer, the leaves looked smaller and not as full, I also had to prune many dead branches from the top, side and bottom. This spring I have even less blooms than last year and there look to me to be many little dead branches at the ends???! I am so sad and am wondering has it come to it's end? It is quite "established" with a trunk approx. 24" or so at it's largest point...I have no idea it's age tho...What can I do if anything? Thank you for any help! Oh, I am in Northern KY and we have had some strange winters and dry summers the last couple of years...so,...I dunno???
