All the hemlock, spruce and pine are pruned every year in this bed. I didn't recommend pruning the spruce but they are doing fine. Mostly the candles on the Pinus nigra and the new growth on the Picea. I love edging this garden. The backyard is crazy. There is a stone as large as a football field with cosmos beds and rudbeckia. I use several tools when I edge. A half moon edger, a homi hand plow, a dirt rake, and at times a shovel. |
