I was told my someone that mulch would hinder the growth of tulips & daffodils and any other spring coming bulb.....Also that it would keep them from multiplying...Especially the tulips....Is this true...? Thanks, I'm a new member so please answer fast... Bikinicat (my cats name) |

To my mind too much mulch would cause the bulbs to be too deep in the ground. That would cause them not to grow. But a little topping should not hurt them. |

I put a 1-2" layer of wood chips over my bulbs and it has never hurt any of them. It might even help a little for winter protection. Most of by bulbs have also multiplied so I don't see it as a problem either. Hope this helps

I've never had a problem with mulch, I use pine needles, hindering daffs or lilies. Too much will hinder the blooms of iris, or at least it does where I live. |
