Ryan thought that we should have a section for bonsai, so why not at least have a thread! Someone else, if I remember correctly, had a bonsai that they received as a gift. I think that it would be fun and a learning experience. I am posting Ryan's serissa. Now we can follow his progress and success.

Mine are in my cold house right now getting their winter rest but as soon as I get them out I will get pictures of mine.

I think it might have been Bugnut that received one as a gift.

Yeah, Mama. I believe it was Bugnut. I sure miss him. He could be telling us about his bonsai.

Ryan, I look forward to your pictures.

Well, I unloaded my cold house today. I actually had a pretty good survival rate for my Bonsai's. They don't look to pretty yet as they are just starting to leaf out (these are my deciduous ones). I will wait until they get leafed out to take pics.

Yes, cannot wait to see them. Unfortunately, my Serissa, I fear, is dying. Who knows, it could leaf out again like I've heard they do. Maybe not. It doesnt btoher me if it does die, as I have heard these are the most finnicky bonsai.

But on the bright side, me Eastern White Pine are growing like weeds

What I have learned is that I have the best luck with the little strays I get from my yard and in the wild then the ones I buy. I have several maples that I dug as stray saplings in my garden, a couple scrub pines, two grapefruits and curly willow. I am in the process of trying to sprout some honey locusts and a coffee tree. I am also rooting a weeping willow and red twig willow.

Oh, I also have two money trees that are doing really well. I did buy them but they were cheap Wal-Mart specials.
