Dividing a Staghorn Horn

I have two very large staghorn ferns that are extremely old. One must be divided since we can no longer lift it even with the use of a vehicle and pulley. I am not sure how to do this. I have divided smaller ones previously and know to cut around the pups and to use spagnum moss and a board or basket if neccessary. I have never divided one as large as this one. Is there anyone who can offer me some advice?

Wow-that is a beautiful specimen!! Can't answer your question, though. Maybe contact the Ag center in your area?

Wow FDG, and I thought mine was big. You may want to contact your local cooperative extension service there are a master gardener or horticulialist(ph)

That is an awesome specimen of staghorn. Do you know what variety you have?
Thanks for showing us.

Also, how do you overwinter your huge basket? I'm extremely curious.
