Hi
I am currently working on idea's for my small urban garden and would like to know if any of you have any idea's.
It would need to have a patio and I was thinking of not having any lawn as its such a small space.
Also I like the idea of having raised beds.
The garden is a blank canvas at the moment just a flat space with 6 feet tall wall surounding it.

Any idea's would be welcome as I'm still unsure about what to do exactly.

Is the garden area the space to the left in your schematic? It appears that way. What is the surface currently - soil, grass, other? If it's soil you can create a lovely 'cottage' garden, +/- a little wandering path of stone/brick/whatever. That is what we did to our front yard - ripped up the grass and planted several garden beds separated by stone paths. It is my favorite spot in the yard. We are waiting for some barberry bushes to get taller for road privacy. There are many perennials and bushes that form the backbone, and each year I change up the annuals that I put in for variety. PS the second picture is the sad late fall garden, and I tried to delete it but couldn't figure out how...

Hi that is a really good idea for your garden.
I forgot to say this is my backgarden and I also uploaded the wrong image I have this large ugly oil tank and boiler and was wondering if you have any idea's about concealing it.
I like the cottage look to your garden do you think it could work with a bit of a larger paved space enough room for a table and a few chairs?
I was also thinking about some sort of climbing plant for the large bare wall that surround the yard at the moment.
Also I have a narrow walk way at the side of my house that has a high wall running down the entire length do you have any idea's about making this walkway look alittle less boring.
What do you think about having raised boxes in such a small garden do you think they are a good idea?

I colour coded this picture so you can clearly see the soil and the house apart was kinda hard to see with the line drawing.

You could try a lattice fence (easy to build rather cheaply if you are handy with a hammer) and grow some clematis or other vine on it.

Absolutely! In fact I wish I had somewhere for a small bench in my yard so I could sit there and take it all in (glass of wine in hand!)

I was also thinking about some sort of climbing plant for the large bare wall that surround the yard at the moment.

Clematis, Trumpet vine, bittersweet, climbing roses come to mind, depending on the light it gets.

Depending on the light, I think a row of various container plants? Hard to visualize. I've always wanted to try my hand at epalier (sp?) - the art of growing a tree flat against a fence - but I don't have anywhere to do it.

My DH built me one on my patio - I love it! But I also bring out plenty of potted plants/trees for the summer to fill in. I'll try to upload a picture...
