I purchased a book recently with loads of information on fruits that grow in Florida. I skimmed through it at the fruit and spice park in Homestead, but decided not to buy it there since they wanted $28 for it. I figured I'd get it cheaper on Amazon and I did! It was exactly half the price @ $14. Anyways, the name of the book is "Florida's Best Fruiting Plants", if anyone is interested. |

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for anyone thinking of planting fruit trees in Florida. It goes into great detail for each fruit including harvest time, also information on different relatives and cultivars. Most people don't realize that there are several cultivars of each type of fruit. We all see different types of apples at the grocery store, but have you ever wondered how many different varieties there are? Probably hundreds! That being said, if you go with Mango..I highly recommend Carrie or Valencia Pride..depending on the size of your yard.
