Hello! I just joined, I don't really have a garden yet.
I live on the third floor of a "three-decker", so I have a large front and back porch, and I'm hoping to start a container garden. I see you have forum for that.

I can also do some work in the front and back yards, but the front is small and the back is shaded by very large pine trees (taller than our building).

I'm new too. But, I'm in SC. Can't wait to see the new things that we can grow together. Hopefully, you can help me and I can help you. I have not had much support other than Wit.

Hi Sonia
Welcome. I can empathize with living on the third floor. When we lived in Maine we lived in an apartment complex on the third floor. But unlike you we did not have any outdoor porches. You can garden in containers easily, chose plants for the amount of sun your porches receive. Even if you have shade there are plants that you can grow for food but they may not be plants you think of for food. I personally grow many edible plants that people may not realize are edible. We all think of herbs and common vegetables. There are myriads of plants with edible qualities. (Of course I eat weeds in my yard- so I'm a bit of an odd duck)
In Maine my husband and I built an indoor pond on the third floor. We hung plants from the ceiling and surrounded the pond with plants too. So living on the third floor there are still many possibilities to garden. It's great that you have outdoor spaces to garden.
