I have these tiny gnats in the house, sometimes even in winter. ( Don't these buggers freeze )? They may be by fruit on the countertop.Or on houseplants, even in the living room by the sofa. What are they? Would hedge balls deter them? Anyone have any ideas, please? Thanks !

look in your plant dirt. You may be infected. If yuo see little bugs crawling on the soil, you need to treat. There is a plastic sticky strip that catches them. Ask in your local nursery. If the soil is infested they can give you something to treat with during watering. Good luck. |

I have gnats like that in my house, too, but it is only when I have potted plants indoors; its like they just sprout out of the soil. I smush them when I can but can't lay down any fly paper or anything because of my pets. I don't know of any way to get rid of them, but I am pretty sure they are because of the houseplants. |

Ok! Those little critters are gonna meet their doom ,one way or another. I'll check the soil now & let you know what I find. |

You can get stuff from your local nursery that you water through the soil. I always try a mild dish detergent mixed in water. then rinse the dirt throughly until no more soap. There is a chance you could loose the plant, but I wouldn't want all my plants infected. Ask at your local nursery. |

Whenever we have fruit flies in the house (from where ever), we put a half cup of cider vinegar with a few drops of dish soap in a shallow pan, mix it up and leave it out near where we see the flies. You'd be surprised to see what happens. Harv |
