Hi! I also wondered what you may recomend for a weed burrier. I will have a large vegetable garden and can never keep up on the weeds. Any advise would help thank you!

Welcome to GG, Greenrobbin! I use newspapers covered with lawn clippings to mulch in between the rows of my garden, and that is a huge help with controling weeds. The toughest part is getting enough clippings! I usually have to cultivate a few rows until the lawn gets mowed again. I have some pictures in my photo albums, if you care to check. Again, welcome, I bet you are going to enjoy it here!

I do like Twiggy, too. Any type of mulch will do on top of the newspaper. You'll need that to hold it in place. I wet the soil first, lay the newspaper,(about 3-4 sheets thick), wet it all again, then put the mulch on top. It decomposes as the season goes on, so you don't have to worry about taking it up. At the end of the season, I have a piece of an old tarp, and I get some boxes that I cut up and lay over my raised beds, held in place with bricks, or unused flower pots filled with dirt, or anything to hold it in place. Next spring, no weeds, no grass, ready to plow and plant!

No, not at all. My raised beds are actually only raised about 6-8 inches. It's all the same.

Has anyone heard of laying old used canvas over your garden for burrier?
