I'm a big fan of seasoning my hamburger meat when making burgers for the grill. That got me wondering...would it ruin the meat if I pre-seasoned my hamburger patties and then froze them individually so that I could just pop a couple out...defrost them...and throw them on the grill? Could I do the same for meatloaf? Chris

I was making some meat loaf for my husband and myself for dinner. With just the two of us we didn't need all of the meat at once. I seasoned it all at once and made some of meat into meatballs and put them in the freezer. When they were frozen I put them in freezer bags and they were great. I don't see why you couldn't do it for burgers as well. Kim

I was hoping you'd say that...I didn't see why it couldn't be done...I just really wasn't sure and didn't want to risk ruining a couple pounds of hamburger! Thanks, Chris

Yes, you can do it. I worked as a cook for years and the big companies like Sysco sell preseasoned burgers frozen as well as fresh. I'm sure it would be fine to do it yourself. If you add things like peppers and onions just make sure that the meat is cooked up to temp. The more ingredients you have in something the more cautious you have to be cooking it. If you're just spicing or adding dried flavorings it's easier.

Yepper - just make sure to wrap them really well so they don't get freezerburned!
