I know spring is almost here. Yesterday I saw a Monarch and a Swallowtail fluttering in my yard! Anyone seeing butterflies in their area? |

I saw one that was all orange, but I don't know my butterflies from my moths! |

I've seen the little blueish/black one quite a bit lately. I have petunias, pansies and snapdragons blooming. |

They're starting to flutter around on a daily basis here. I was working in the garden just yesterday and watched 2 laying eggs in my garden. Yellow sulphurs are everywhere and some tiger swallowtails are getting busy. |

The Gulf Fritilliary has arrived-guess my Passionflower will become a skeleton-and it hasn't even bloomed yet! Attachments: ![]() ![]() |

Is that what that is? I have a couple of those only with alot more black on it. When you mentioned the passionflower thing, now I know why mine look like skeletons as you put it. Blooms or buds all over it and then a while later there is nothing in the bud..frustrating the crap out of me. What I meant is that type of butterfly, I know what a butterfly looks like..lol |

Yes, that's a Gulf Fritilliary. Passionflower is their favorite flower-like milkweed for the monarchs. The larvae/worm, has the same coloring as the butterfly. Last year at the end of the summer, I just let them eat-the whole plant was nothing but stems within a few days and the worms were everywhere! |
