what causes my tomatoes to have a patch of thinner skin that does not ripen like the rest of the tomato? |

Where on the tomato are the spots? It could be sunburn. |

yes you could be right near the top, it just wont ripen, the rest of the tomatoe has ripened |

If its at the stem end, i wouldn't worry too much about it, a lot of tomatoes do that and its still eatable. |

thank you, it is, and its only the odd few not all of them, i just cut that bit off and they are very tasty, |
