I apologize in advance if this is an inappropriate post to make, but I found this website searching for a way that I might be able to buy an Oleander. I'm trying extreeemely hard to get even just a single flower from one, it would make a very special Valentine's Day gift. The 'giftee' loves Tulips and Oleanders, but because we live in North Carolina she's never gotten an Oleander before. I've spent about a month now trying to find one with no luck at all (I can't even find a silk one). I've tried so many places/people/greenhouses, and since Valentine's Day is very close now I've resorted to trying to find someone who might go as far as cutting a flower themselves and shipping it to me. I can pay for it, and if anyone can help or knows someone that may be able to help, I would be so grateful.

I dont know if a florist would sell oleander flowers. I have always seen it sold at garden centers as a bush that you plant. I have read that the entire plant is poisonous.

Yea, the Oleander is poisonous, and they are normally not in bloom at this time of year (maybe in South Florida!). If you really want a bush, I might could find one here in Louisiana. PM me.

Thank you for the replies, I did know about them being poisonous and hopefully that won't make for an unlucky gift (), but she loves Oleander's, so I'm hoping to have one in with the Tulips. I'm trying to search for a Garden Center or a Nursery or something in Florida that I can contact (won't know anything until business hours I guess), but if you could find a flower there and it's not too much trouble, that would be great.

Hi Benjamin, I just joined this site and was looking at different posts. I know your post was 2009 but I am curious, did you ever find your oleander? I have one in my yard and am willing to part with it. Joy

oleander grows well on the carolina coasts. it does not do well inland where i live (near charlotte) but there may be a hybrid variety that is more heartier for our area. i tried to relocate several plants from the beach in years past but none of them ever made it through a winter. i love the plant and the beautiful flowers. i am going to do a little research and see if i can find a heartier variety that is more suited to our area.

Hi, there, Dave. We're practically neighbors!

I, too, did the same thing. I had oodles of oleander at the beach, but they didn't do worth a hoot here in Lancaster. I LOVE them.
