I am new here to this forum and to gardening. As a kid my dad always had a wonderful country garden in our backyard. everything from flowers to veges to sunflowers. Now that I have my own place I would love to have a garden of my own for my kids to enjoy. I love the outdoors and nature so I think this would be a great hobby for me to try out. Thanx for reading this. Bye.

My parents were big gardeners too, this year will be my second year of making gardening my hobby. It is so peaceful when work or life gets stressful I just go out to my garden and all the negativity goes away. Good luck gardening.

Hi, I am new also. I also grew up with a garden. My dad has grown everything from asaragus to popcorn and everything in between. My husband and I are starting our "raised bed garden" this week end. I am excited. We have no children at home but have grandchildren and I have lots of time. We have chosen raised bed gardening because we have a small yard and would like to keep our garden in certain areas. I am looking for tips on companion planting and natural pesticdes. I guess you could say I want to grow things a little more organic then my dad did.
