Have red the info on growing garlic & it says garlic from grocery store is fine for starting my own. BUT..that garlic comes from China. Probably grown in contaminated soil.Wouldn't this contamination be transferred to new growth? I've tried it with garlic from seed catalogs & didn't get anything but a tiny useless bulb! Can it be grown in containers like flowers? Would like to hear from others who've been successful at growing this yummy bulb. Thank you !

I have some growing in my garden that I bought at the grocery store. I believe mine came from Texas-almost all of our produce here in South La. comes from Texas or Florida. There are some exceptions. What contaminants are you concerned with? |

You're lucky to get home-grown garlic where you live. I'm in Mn.Don't know why that makes a difference, but I don't know where to find local garlic unless maybe I wait till spring & find it at a farmers market.I don't know what contaminants would be in the china garlic, but from what I've seen on t.v., the soil there is pretty bad! |
