We (I) have decided to try some cool weather crops. Our extension service has guides for quite a few things we can plant in mid February. Thinking about trying onions, beets, carrots, lettuce, sweet peas in a small garden area.

Right now, I'm still getting winter broccoli, and it's time to plant the early spring broccoli-I'm thinking of passing on that (i've been over broccolied!) It will be time here to plant potatoes mid-Feb, and I haven't done that in a while, so I'm going to plant a few potatoes. I'm probably going to plant some radish again-AND THEN-for my summer garden, 3 Tomato plants, 3 cucumbers, 2 or 3 squash/zucchini, 2 rows of green beans (I made a LOT of green beans with 3 rows, so I'm cutting back to 2), 2 eggplants and 2 bell peppers. (I made a tremendous amount of bell peppers with 3 plants, so only 2 of those this year) Then mid summer I will plant my okra. Out of eight plants, only 4 survived and I had enough okra for me, and that's all I need!

Wow what a Winter Y'all are Having, Here in central Florida it's , let's say an Inconvenience, so far a couple Nights down to low/mid Thirties. Planting ? I just started about 50 tomato seeds under a plastic grow tray, We have been Harvesting our Lettuce, That first time planting Leaf Lettuce this stuff is GREAT, we are giving away Baskets Full (see "Maggie's Idea" in "Over The Fence Forum). I am going to plant potatoes the second day of February, "Ground Hog Look Out" as far as early planting yea we got you Yankees on that one but the reason we get to plant early is we are running from the bugs and Brother and Sisters I mean BUGS, HEAT and WEEDS, here in Florida's we have a Tropical Climate with Tropical Life Forms, Maggie, Jake and Myself will plant a full range of Vegetables in the ground around the last of February and the First of March, Ground is ready, later Guilt Trip and the Twins

I've got 5 tomato plants: brandywine, black plum tomato,Roma, Box Car Willie, and another type of roma or plum tomato(lost the tag). 6 different pepper plants: jalapeno, anaheim, poblano, cayenne, and different bells. 9 heads of Romaine Lettuce, 1 yard long bean volunteer sprout, and 1 quinalt strawberry plant.

In the summer I'm going to try Zukes, Cukes, and another type of squash. I believe that is the time to plant them down here. I have to double check though.

I've harvested several tomatos from the black plum tomato plant(14 today!) and several peppers from the cayenne and jalapeno plant. The others were planted a few weeks later, but all have fruit that is still ripening.

I'm going to try making a pasta sauce with the tomatoes since they are slightly mushy. I need to wait a few days to pick a few more though. If it comes out good, I'll post in the recipe thread.
