I know.. I know. Tomatos are fruits, not vegetables. However, I see it time and again mentioned in the veggie forums. So I'm posting the pics here.

I just thought I would share some pictures of my Black Plum Tomato plant. I am eager to taste one!

LOL yes Miami is quite different from other parts of the U.S. While we plant veggie seeds in October, you guys plan for the winter. In march when y'all start planting...we have to start worrying about which veggies can withstand the heat and humidity.

Oops! I missed this, dame. Be sure to show us what a "black" plum tomato looks like when they ripen!

Looks like a very nice harvest soon! Is this tomato sort of like a roma?

Yes. I find them to be VERY similar to Roma tomatoes, maybe a little mushier. Once they turn about 80% red..they feel soft to the touch. I picked 4 of them and have them in a paper bag to see if they change to that deep purple/black color.

Upon tasting them, I think these tomatoes would best be used as sauce tomatoes. Im going to try making a good pasta sauce once I have about 20 of them. The rest I'll probably make basic tomato sauce for canning.

I've unfortunately neglected the garden the last few days because I've been painting the inside of my house. We've been watching too much HGTV and DIY network.
