HERB or WEED............ID please......

Creeping plants grow everywhere in my garden, especially at the moisture soil of my garden, have small foliage about 4 mm lenght and +/- 2 mm width. Reddish juicy stem looks like a transparant fiber about 2 mm in diameter. bloom very tiny almost unseen light red flowers. very fragrantly when i pull it out from the ground.....someone knows ? ID please...thanks....

Purslane (Portulaca oleracea)?

Yes, looks like purslane to me and I hear tell it's edible. Haven't tried it ~ is it any good?

There are a couple of women in the garden club that eat it.
They have been trying for four years to get me to try it
but I have yet to nibble!

I thought it was purslane at first too, but the leaves look different. Maybe there's a different species in Indonesia.

Purslane's quite good. I always let a few healthy plants go in my garden for salads. It's kind of crunchy and tastes like cucumbers with a squeeze of lemon. You can actually buy it in fancy markets, and my heirloom seed catalogs carry seeds for it in the greens section. Imagine, buying purslane seeds!

Scarlet Pimpernel has square stems and black spots on the underside of the leaf.
