I would like to know if I can save the sweet potato vine bulbsd that I have just dug up. Can they be cut into pieces? Can they be saved during the winter and replanted next Spring? Thanks for your help

I would think you could. I am in the lower south, but I left mine in their pot during the winter with no protection (thinking they were dead), and they sprouted in the spring! From one "potato" I got a front flower bed full. Keep protected and mulched, and they should come back. I don't know about cutting them in smaller pieces though, but, again, why not?

One of my friends has offered me some of hers. I think that she digs hers and keeps them in the house, I guess like dahlia bulbs. She lives in NC. I'll ask her how she does it to be sure.

I contacted my friend, and this is her reply:

I just keep them in a basket or box in a cool dry place until Spring. You will know when it's time to plant them. I forgot about mine two years ago and found about 4 of them with vines about 2 to 5 feet long. When it's time they will start growing.
