I'm in Zone 8b and I have a pretty nice patch of tarragon in the ground. It has lovely little blooms all over it. I'm still pinching off and using it to cook with. Can I just leave it there? Also, does Fennel overwinter well outside?

I believe that bronze fennel is a perennial. I had mine come back for a year or so till the caterpillars ate it all up one year.
The green fennel is an annual.
I've had French tarragon to come back from our SC winters, so you should have no problem.

Thank you all...I put an extra layer of mulch in the garden, put boxes over the smaller stuff and tented with sheets the tall things. It's supposed to get down to 24 here in WARM SUNNY Florida..brrrrrrrr...it's not that, if you are used to it

Tarragon is a perennial herb. So yes, it will keep there for a looong time with proper care.

She strolled right through the 26 degrees the other night, no worse for the wear. Matter of fact, she sacrificed a few pieces for chicken last night!

I have my tarragon mulched deep for the winter. It should pull through here in zone 6b (or 7 nowadays). I just went out last night actually and got handfuls of Parsley, sage, rosemary, chives and thyme to take to a friend's house for a little cooking party we had. Hopefully most of it will stay at least partially green most of the winter.
