Sure enough after i tilled mulched then planted in my raised garden bed pansy's, allysum, chrysanthemum's, English primrose, watered them, then 2 weeks later i have Oxalis weeds sprouting up. I hate hate hate hate hate these, plus some other weeds i cant tell what they are yet!! How do you all prevent these from sprouting? They have always driven me crazy. I'm the only one in my family that has Oxalis in their garden. Tura |

At least oxalis is easy to pull up... could be trumpet creeper. You didn't say if your flowers were plants or seeds. If they are plants just cover the dirt around them with a couple layers of newspaper, wet it, and then mulch on top. I have oxalis and purslane everywhere I disturb so much as a speck of dirt, and this keeps it down very well for me. Next year you till the rotten paper right in. |

Oxalis take over my flower beds, too. I continually cut the leaves off/ and pull the plant. You have to get the "nuts" or they'll keep coming back, and of course those nuts are so tiny, they spout everywhere. I don't believe you can get rid of them-You have to move! |

You know what it the absolute bane of my existance? Violets!! They are everywhere in my yard, flowerbeds, garden, lawn. They are pretty for a couple weeks in the spring and spend the rest of the year growing huge as cabbages and trying to nudge everything else out. And you can't pull 'em up either, they have a big root thing almost as bad as a dandelion. They come right through mulch, grow under plastic, I can't stop them! |
