I feel really silly asking this question, being I grew up with my grandfather planting all this stuff-but I, myself have never planted cabbage. Does each cabbage plant produce only one head of cabbage? I know they take a lot of room, but I don't want 8 cabbage plants; I don't have that kind or room!

I planted 5 cabbage plants in three 24" round tubs (a plastic blue barrel cut in half) they did well but was crowded, the tubs that had 4 plants did even better. and yes they only produce one head, but with second thought? I cut some cabbages off leaving the stem and it sprouted a few little what looked like little cabbage plants trying to make heads, They never made it, sorry I cut those babys up seasoned well, layed pork chops over and baked GOOOOD!, back to cabbage plant room, The tubs that I planted had 3.15 square foot area, so given that I would give them about 1 square foot area each, hope this helps, just gardening -Guilt Trip

I never thought of tubs! I have some tubs that I got from a friend who has horses. He gets his horse feed in them and they are about the same size as your blue tubs. When I pull up my tomatoes, I may try that. Thanks for the tip!
