My volunteer Rose of Sharon has a bloom, and a bud ready to open!
Had never even noticed a bud on it- figured it was too young to flower yet (this is it's first or maybe second year)
It's a very pretty all white flower- strange considering my neighbor has a pink one (where I am sure this volunteer came from)

That's cool. Mine is 2 or 3 years old and still hasn't bloomed yet. I'm jealous! lol

I sure wish mine would throw off a volunteer somewhere near.

Stereo -- We have a solid white that appeared in our wall-o-althea. My roomate doesn't remember planting it, and the leaves are a little different, darker and more deeply toothed than the others. We figger it's a mutant. Anyway I'd be more than happy to send you seeds or a cutting if that would work better.

I'll go out tomorrow and see if it still has blossoms and post a pic for you.

Stereo- go figure! If I knew the seeds would stay true I'd save them for you, but I really doubt that they would
Maybe I could try to take a cutting for you instead

Oh, yeah, I thought about that.... we have a whole bunch of different colors growing together, I guess the seeds could well be crosses.

How does one mail a cutting anyway? I promised Granny a cutting of our green china rose but I don't know how to get it to her alive!

I root my cuttings before I'll send them out.
Once they have a good root system and are growing on their own I'll usually rinse the soil off the roots, wrap them in damp paper towels, and put a baggie on the rootball. Cuts down on the weight for shipping

Thanks Aurora! I guess I should try rooting something, I've never done that.

Went out with the camera today and wouldn't you know, within the last two days the altheas have decided to be finished flowering, there's not a single blossom on the lot. I can still tell the white one apart by the leaves though.
