A friend gave me this little sad houseplant two years ago, it was just about dead. I've had to growing in my garden/kitchen window for some time, and this summer I took it out to the deck. It was left there, in the sun, wind, rain all summer long and really seemed happy with new vines finally growing! I just went to move all my plants that I winter over in the basement today, and picked this one up and got the surprise of my life! There is a cluster of the prettiest little pink and deep maroon tiny flowers on one vine! Now I want to know what this is and how to care for it better so maybe I can get it to flower more! Any help would be great! Attachments: ![]() ![]() |

I found the answer myself! I have a Hoya plant, specifically a Carnosa Rubra Hoya. For all the different species of these - here's a web site: http://www.hoyaplants.com/index.htm |

Hoyas are one of easiest houseplants to grow. I purchased a part of a hoya kerria (heart shaped leaves) about two and a half years ago. For a year and a half, it didn't do a darn thing and I almost threw it away. Then, suddenly, it started growing and growing and growing. And, this summer, it had a small flower cluster. I'm glad I didn't get rid of it. But, when we moved from Florida to Montana a few weeks ago, I cut it back and now, must wait again for it to start growing. |
