My Jujube is ripe! They taste great when still green but now it's sooooooooooo YUMMY! too hot to go out to take a picture of the whole tree. I'll take pics later tonight. Hubby bought the tree thinking it was an apple tree, not sure how that happened! lol Oh boy are we happy we have it now.

Edit: sorry I spelled Jujube wrong in subject line.

I can see how he would mistake it for an apple, they look alike to me . The apples and pears are ripe here right now, this reminds me to plan a trip to the orchards. How does Jujube taste? Is the texture anything like an apple? I had never heard of these before...

I didn't know what it was at first either. Yes, texture like apple. Sweetness like honey...at least it tastes like honey to me.

Oh wow! I've heard of jujube candies but I didn't know it was a real fruit on a tree! So cool! I'll have to see if I can find some somehow!

For anyone who wants to know:

I read Jujube 'LI', what I have, is a Chinese Date (as in palm date(?)). You might find more info. if you type in your browser LI first then Jujube. lol try both.

Info. from the tag which came with the tree:

"Jujube 'Li' has fruit that measures 1-2" in length and are round in shape. 'Li' may be picked early and allowed to ripen indoors. Self-fertile, but 'Lang' should be used as a pollinator where reliable production is desired. This selection is considered early, ripening in mid-August."

Exposure: Full Sun
Average HxW: 12-15' x 15'
Fertilizing: In Spring just before new growth emerges.
Cold Hardiness: 5-30 F
Water: Keep moist until well established, then water regularly as needed.

Just wanted to add to the above info.

Protect the tree/fruit from the crazy wind! My jujubes are all gone. Wind blew 'em down and ants or whatever ate 'em.

Now I know! I think next year I'll pick 'em early and let them get ripe in the house.

New pics of Jujube tree. I'm going to pick them this year before the wind gets to them. Let them ripen indoors.

Ps. sorry can't get rid of the double pic.

I'm going to pick all the good ones today. They will ripen inside and birds wont eat 'em!
