Anyone know if Russian hollyhock (malva alcea rugosa) is more resistant to rust than the others? I'm not sure what kind I have right now, but the poor thing can't seem to put up a fair amount of leaves before they're all overtaken by rust and I have to snip them off.

I have read that they are resistant to rust. That does not mean they will not get it though. The fig leafed hollyhocks are also resistant to rust as well. I was able to save most of my hollyhocks from rust this year with applications of humus and manure over the garden. I topped the entire gardens off. The garden that started out topped off this year had hollyhocks that were unaffected by rust. That is a lot to say since it rained a great deal this year.
