Just joined so just ran across this. My favorites change w/ seasons but anything that hummers like ie salvias, fuchsias, etc. would be as close as I can get to narrowing it down. Also fond of medicinal herbs. |

Hm, thanks Rocky, I just noticed this one too. Fave tree is probably weeping willow. Fave plant? Gooosh. My wild ferns? Nah, I have to say good old thyme. Plain old French thyme. It's a really beautiful and interesting looking plant, has pretty pink flowers, needs no special care, thrives in dry harsh conditions (like the corner of our front yard) and is world's most versatile culinary herb. |

My fav tree is the Louisiana Magnolia. My grandmaw had a big one next to her house. I loved seeing the big flowers open up on it. I disliked the large seed or cone that would fall from it. It's like a pine cone only from the Magnolia. I have tried planting two and both have died. I might have something wrong with my soil. Attachments: ![]() |

Agreed Pete the Southern Magnolia is among the most beautiful and fills the air during those warm evenings with the most heady of fragrances. In the 24 years I have lived in this house and all the seed cones that have fallen, I have only found one little tree sprout and that in the last couple of weeks. Sent it to Rachel for her to Bonsai. So to start one from seed must be right difficult. Linda B Attachments: ![]() |

Linda don't you just love the large flowers they produce? I think I will buy another one this spring and try again. But this time I will change locations the two I tried before were both planted in the same spot. Trouble is that spot is where I really want it to be! Pete |

Good luck, and yes I do love mine. We were remarking how much it has grown over the 24 years we have lived in this house. They are messy though and before I knew better I limbed it up. Now the leaves and seed cones are all over. Still worth having though. Linda B |
