Hello everyone from BotresearchUSA.I actually go by the initials J.N. and the
Botresearch USA is actually the research organization I work for.Yes I'm a research scientist working on a group of plants for which most people are familiar with in part since they are herbs which some use in cooking. The problem
when talking to people about this family, the Lamiaceae or mint family is that
those species most people think of as mints ae only one genera (Menthae) out of 180 genera and 3500 species in this plant family. These plants are not only used
as seasonings for cokking, but they are used to make insecticides, dyes, and as
whole range of medicinal drugs used to fight many diseases such as HIV-1 and cancers. Those of you that have a real desire to learn more about this huge plant family can contact me and I'll answer any questions you have and also tell you where you can get plenty of information about these plants which would be too involved to post on a forum like this.
I hope to hear from some of you that are really into this group of plants.
Happy Gardening!!!
J.N.

Welcome to our forums, Botresearch! Look around a bit and you'll find our mint fanatics - we have some! I recommend the "herbs" forum for starters, and "container gardening". Enjoy!
