I've always liked plants, as far back as I can remember. No one in my family was into gardening. I guess it is just in my genes!

When I was young I liked houseplants.Later I started with a couple of veggies in pots. Then when I got my own house I did a bigger veggie garden, and flowers everywhere. Now I want to put in more and bigger veggie gardens and more flower gardens.Sooner or later there will be no need for the lawnmower!

One reaches a certain age when "I like to play in the dirt" is no longer considered appropriate.

Growing up everybody elses mom was a stay at home mom, mine worked. It seemed they all had gardens. Flowers, fruit veggies. That became the ideal for me, when I was a mom, I wanted a garden. Well, times being what they were, I never really had a chance until 7 years ago. I started with a few, then many, then many, many more containers. Stuff grew!!!! As I gained more knowledge (thanks GG) and confidence in the garden, I expanded GREATLY!!!! Hanging with the boys in the garden was fun, we would try experiments to see what would work, now they are my tote and carry guys (I'd be lost without them).

My garden has provided me with, so many things. Not only the beauty and wonder of it all, but the fulfillment of a life long dream, a place of serenity, the desire to grow along with my garden. That's my story, I'm sticking to it!

That may be true to a certain extent, but one look at my hands you know I dont' do anything 'clean' during the week. A gal friend suggested I get Acrylic nails. Now if any of you actually get down and dirty in your gardens, tell me if those things don't get in the way.

One Granddad and my dad put the love of flowers in my heart. So I have always had something growing either inside or out. Linda B

I had acrylic nails working in a flower shop planting things there and at home they were not to bad. But the more in the dirt the more often you need to repaint them.

Got the gardening bug for my Grandpa and my mom.

I tried the fake nails for about 15 minutes years and years ago. They drove me nuts. Too hard to play guitar with them.

Generational gardeners in my family. My grandparents were mostly vegies, but my dad had a big iris patch besides his vegie garden.

I needed food.

My Granny and my Dad showed me time and again how to garden. I mostly just pacified them...just helping dig and hoe..little did I know I needed that hard knocks education..so here I am on GG hoping to strengthen what little I gleaned from my elders. I so wish they were still here!

For as long as I can remember my grandfather gardened-A LARGE garden. When I left home at 18 and got my own "space", I first started with tomatoes, because the store bought ones just didn't taste good. Then came houseplants, then a husband, and then, lots of gardening. It just seems that I've always been "gardening".
