I have a large black walnut tree and AFTER planting my garden found out about black walnut toxicity. Does anyone know how far away from the tree I must move my garden? thanks! |

From what I have read, it can be toxic for as far as a 60 to 80 foot radius. Hope this helps sass |

Thanks, any chance I can move my tomato plants that have started to wilt and "save" them? |

you should try the veggie or compost forum. Stereo is usually participating in those threads.. |

They have this oil in their leaves, in their roots, and especially in the green shells around the nuts, that leaches into the ground and cripples other growing things nearby. So if you accidentally plant something near a black walnut, and it shows signs of weakness as a result, you have to get the SOIL off the poor thing. Or else you're moving the disease along with the patient. |
