I'm curious, how can you tell when you are not watering Rosemary enough?

How long should you allow it dry out b/t waterings?

--if the soil isnt black or dosent stick to youre hand then water it (ok well i dont like the 2nd lol) usiallyu if you garden enough youll start ta just "know" when youre plants need somethin or least ive come to lol

For me Rosemary is a tough plant. Mine are years old and huge. I don't remember having to baby them any. Of course you do not want any plant to dry out.

Check the soil to see if it is dry or has some moisture down a few inches before adding more water. Is this a young plant? are there other things growing in the same area?

My rosemary is also very tough. I don't give it a lot of water, it's a the edge of the sprinkers reach, on only 15 minutes every morning when the weather is hot. Other than that once a week unless its raining. It is huge and blooms beautifully every year. The plant is 5 years old now.

This plant is 3 y/o. I've wintered it over the last 2 winters and have had no problems til recently. We moved to a different part of the city in Dec. I think the move combined with an unusually cool summer has given me a few challenges. I seem to have overwatered it. The leaves began to curl, twist & turn yellow. So I repotted it in a terra cotta pot vs the plastic one I had it in. When the soil felt very dry, I watered it and again I had yellow leaves. I let it really dry out for about 1wk before I watered it again. I've barely watered this plant since I relocated. I was watering it daily at the previous location.

The only difference I can determine b/t the 2 locations is the reflective light from our windows at the old location vs no reflective light here.

My rosemary has always been a source of pride for me, but I must say, I'm a little confused as to why I'm having these issues. Since I've appeared to have overwatered it in the past, I was curious how to tell when it really needs water. What I've been doing over the past 2yrs isn't working any longer.

I watered my baby rosemary plant two days ago and yesterday it dried out and burned up in the heat. I'd also be interested in how often other people water their rosemary. I bought a new one today and put it in a bigger pot (this one is medium-sized).
