The caladiums that I planted in Spring didn't even sprout. I'm wondering if our weather got too cold here in Eugene after I planted them. Back in April we had record breaking heat one weekend, and then snow the next weekend. Is there anything I can do to get my caladiums to grow?

Caladiums are tropical by nature and do not like cold weather. Consistently hot weather (day and night) is necessary for germination. I usually don't plant them until several weeks after our "approximate last frost date" or they just melt away into the soil. In other words, they like it HOT!!! lol!

Or, you may have planted them too deep. But I'm guessing it was just too cold for them to do their thing.

Thanks, Rosie. At this point I guess I'll just did them up to see what they're doing and save them for next year.

Cheers,
