I finally saw an insect with color! We were watering the cactus then saw it land to drink water from the part where the water had drained. Soooooo pretty but I have no idea what it is yet.edit: blue mud dauber wasp, at least it looks like one to me. ittsa keeper!

I think this is a Watermelon Beetle, Ten-Lined June beetle (Polyphylla decemlineata) It banged itself on the wall a few times last night. This morning I saw it on the ground, it is dieing

#1 - I think it's in the Tettigoniidae (Katydids) family. Forgot what 2/3 is. The eyes look fake! I cropped the pics to zoom in on it.

The last pic is a stink bug-NOT the same as the green katydid (or grasshopper). KILL the stink bug. yuk.... |

of course an anchor bug couldn't visit me right? thank you carolyn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentatomidae Many stink bugs and shield bugs are considered agricultural pest insects, because they can create large populations; they suck plant juices and damage crop production, and they are resistant to many pesticides. However, some genera of Pentatomidae are considered highly beneficial; the anchor bug, which can be distinguished by the red-orange anchor shape on the adult, is one example. It is a predator of other insects, especially Mexican bean beetles, Japanese beetles, and other pest insects. |

we sprayed our fruit trees yesterday to get rid of insects ... guess what dropped out of 'em like it was raining? Tettigoniidae (Katydids)!!!!!!!!! (picture in previous post)----- most recent insect i saw, was a wild one & pretty big...couldn't take too many pics of it. haven't ID it yet. Attachments: ![]() |
