Can someone give me a clue what to expect from my yardlong beans? They have spent the last two months growing like someone poured kryptonite on them. Eight bean plants swallowed their original teepee things, and have now swallowed the eight foot posts and string trellis I erected for them, and are climbing into my magnolia tree. Note the fellow in the picture is a solid six foot three and is wearing tall cowboy boots. The beans are still going crazy and have yet to produce so much as a flower. When do they bloom? When do they fruit? Is there something I should put on them to make them fruit? Should I cut them back?

I wish that I could help you with that. All I know is that it is a tropical plant, so maybe it needs a bit more time to produce its flowers.

Keep the fella. He looks pretty good. As for the beans, you're going to get a lot of them, starting very soon. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, very soon.

Good to hear they're good for something. I was beginning to think I'd acidentally planted kudzu instead. Still no flowers as of today though

No flowers. Kudzu-like trailers and ropes of vine extending from the overhead tree branches to near the ground. Looks like something from that movie "Congo". Had to anchor the 8 ft boards to the bird bath and garage to keep the whole thing from collapsing inward from the weight of the vines. No flowers.

Be careful, I knew a guy once who had a giant longbean plant. He ventured into the garden alone, late at night. That man was never seen again.

They have bloom booster fertilizer? I'll look into that, if I can cut my way loose from these tendrils.
