Herbs for Alaska

I live in the alaska panhandle, where we get lots of rain and little sun. What
herbs would grow well here?

out by jeuno? (the capitol) hmm id say find a local nursery id think most things should be ok just get a system so they dont get "toomuch" water (pots likely easyiest lol)

(midwest pots an mottled shade everything seems pok just experiment lol)

Yeah, just south of Juneau. Our nursery is small and a ways out, i've only been there once in the two years since i've moved here.

Try a search for your hardiness zone. There are lots of good maps in the zones section at the bottom of this forum. From what I've heard, your growing season is short, but bountiful.

I think you can grow a pretty wide variety of plants in your zone. If I understand correctly, you can grow pretty much any herbs and several tropical trees. If you want to play it safe or are limited in space, try growing them in containers.

I thought that Alaska was like zone 1 or 2.

If you look at a zone map(I posted one in the zones section), you'll see Alaska has zones 1-7b. This person lives on the southern panhandle, which seems to be the best area for growing plants.

Amazingly enough, plants grow all over Alaska. I've heard that the growing season is short, but intense.

biyuwolf is great with herbs. I wish she would come give mine a hand they look sad this year. I am not sure what i did wrong but she is who you need to ask she seems to know alot about herbs
