I'm wondering if anyone knows a good and strong, alternative to pestacides. I've tried soap and water and it just doesn't seem to have any kick to it. I don't want chemicals on my garden as it kinda defeats the purpose of growing your own. Any ideas? Thanks. |

I have had wonderful success with the soap and water- I add cooking oil to it, helps it to stick ![]() You have to reapply it after every rain and after watering, but it does the job for me for pennies ![]() Other than that, have you tried NEEM oil? I heard it works very well too

What bugs are you trying to get rid of? There are different organic, safe insecticides for different types of bugs. |

Mostly ant or aphids. I did have "leaf miners" or "leaf tunnelers" in my onion leaves this year though as well. |

I'll try adding a little oil to soapy water and see what happens. Sounds like a good idea. |

The soap/oil/water mix should kill the aphids, you just need to reapply OFTEN!!! I have aphids attacking my apple tree seedlings, and I have to apply it everyday. It doesn't kill the ants attending them though... It's best for soft-bodied insects. |
