I'm wondering if anyone knows a good and strong, alternative to pestacides. I've tried soap and water and it just doesn't seem to have any kick to it. I don't want chemicals on my garden as it kinda defeats the purpose of growing your own. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I have had wonderful success with the soap and water- I add cooking oil to it, helps it to stick
You have to reapply it after every rain and after watering, but it does the job for me for pennies
Other than that, have you tried NEEM oil? I heard it works very well too

What bugs are you trying to get rid of? There are different organic, safe insecticides for different types of bugs.

Mostly ant or aphids. I did have "leaf miners" or "leaf tunnelers" in my onion leaves this year though as well.

I'll try adding a little oil to soapy water and see what happens. Sounds like a good idea.

The soap/oil/water mix should kill the aphids, you just need to reapply OFTEN!!! I have aphids attacking my apple tree seedlings, and I have to apply it everyday. It doesn't kill the ants attending them though... It's best for soft-bodied insects.
