In my garden are rosemary and lavender that stay green all year. I am in zone 8. Anyone have other herbs that are evergreen? I want to add another one or two. Linda B |

Linda, I think zone 8 has conditions that resemble the Mediterranean area. That is why your rosemary stays green all year. *jealous* I would think that mints-(can be invasive), sages, and thymes would also do well because they are from the Mediterranean area. If you can find them, scented geraniums would probably flourish in your area. Oh, I wonder if you could get away with a bay laurel tree as well? |

I have chives that grow year round. Only if we get a 'hard freeze', which for us is like 30 degrees, does it not do well. It always springs right back up in the spring. I go out and cut a handful when I need it for cooking. The more I cut it, the better it does. |

Put in a Lemon Thyme this spring so I will be hoping it stays green and lives through the winter. Have not tried too many sages. The ones I have had die back or die out. Will look into that one. Thanks all, Linda B |

If you had a protected spot, I'll bet you could do a bay laurel. Do you have chives? I can't remember if my mom's dies back in the winter or not. |

I think my neighbor has chives. Seems like they do die down though. Will check into Bay Laurel. Not familiar with that. Thank to all for your suggestions. Linda B |

I live in zone 8b, and my parsley kept growing all winter. I was quite surprised. |

For me my rosemary, thyme, oregano, and parsley stayed green all winter. I'm in zone 7b/8a. Sages always died back and I can't grow lavender to save my life life LOL! Bay Laurel is the plant that Bay leaves come from. I have seen them for sale around here, and I bet it would do well for you in SC. I haven't tried it yet, but I would have to use it as a houseplant/tree in the winter. |
